Go TEAM! Really. Go away.

For my earlier TEAM items, go here and here.

I have dug into the TEAM voter registration database issue a little deeper since I last posted, but I’m not ready for a big opus yet. I’m going to try to clarify as much as I can the extent to which this TEAM system thing was sold as an IBM proposition, with a hand from Hart Intercivic. The initial announcements really play up IBM, but other, more recent state sources mention only Hart Intercivic products in the TEAM system project.

Other issues arise…

Hart-Intercivic changed CEO’s in April 2007, right before the TEAM system’s first true test. Fishy or no big deal? What if the new CEO had his hand in Accenture? Is he fit for the new job? How does Texas fare in comparison to other states struggling to comply with HAVA? Why are we the only state using Hart Intercivic to run a voter reg database?

The plot thickens, as they say.

For now, I’m going to finish Gabriel Garcia-Marquez’ Memories of My Melancholy Whores so I can give it back to the friend who loaned it to me. Probably a few silly posts will pop up too, but for those interested, I’ll be back in the voter db debacle before long.
