Are you a health care lucky ducky?
Oregon has over 600,000 uninsured citizens. Starting in January, uninsured Oregonians can put their names on a list for possible coverage in the Oregon Health Plan’s “Standard” benefits plan. It is being called a “reservations list for possible coverage.” According to the Salem Statesman Journal:
In March, a computer will begin to draw names randomly from the reservation list. People whose names are drawn will be mailed an application to apply for the OHP Standard plan.
However, receiving an application, or even getting one’s name on the reservation list, does not guarantee acceptance in the plan, officials warned.
Applications will continue to be mailed out each month until 10,000 to 12,000 new individuals are enrolled.
Names will be randomly drawn? Heh. Sounds like a lottery to me.
It is better than Powerball odds, I guess, but still seems a little seemy. So… tell me again why some asshole boss gets to decide whether you have affordable health care coverage? Working and paying taxes only qualifies you to have your efforts finance wars you do not agree with.
Silly rabbit! Now get your application in!

OMG, a healthcare lottery???!!!! That’s just unbelievable.
I can’t believe the Tennessee legislature didn’t think of it first.
